Surgical Treatment for
Snoring
Most people like to sleep next to their partner, but what if that person snores?
Not only can snoring be disruptive and have a negative impact on personal relationships, but evidence shows that snoring may potentially lead to increased health risks and sleepiness. Â
Snoring is the result of throat tissue vibrations. The first step in managing snoring is to rule out a more serious condition called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). To improve snoring, there are usually several treatment options available that focus on improving nasal breathing (e.g., correction of a deviated septum or removal of adenoids), improving airflow through the mouth (e.g., removal or capping of tonsils), or other surgical techniques to reduce tissue vibration (tightening/ stiffening of the soft palate).
